Dakota Hunting Trips

The Dakota's #1 Hunting Resource

Black Pipe Creek

About Us

Located in eastern Bennett County South Dakota it is home to many Trophy Whitetail, Mule deer, and Elk. There are hundreds of Merriam Turkeys and an abundance of grouse, prairie dogs, and coyotes. Our goal at Blackpipe Creek Ranch is to provide a quality trophy hunting experience. Therefore we suggest you shoot four point (western count) or better bucks, and five point or better bull elk. By South Dakota state law only residents are eligible for elk hunts. Four-wheel drive vehicles will be used to get from camp to hunting areas or blinds. Spot and stalk is the preferred method on mule deer and elk. Permanent or portable blinds are usually used for whitetails. Calling or spot and stalk with a scoped.223 are used for turkeys. While we can’t control weather, luck or hunter accuracy, every effort will be made to get you a reasonable shot at a mature trophy. Total satisfaction is our goal and 100% success rate is expected. Hunters should practice shooting from seated and prone positions on targets at 300 plus yards with bipods or rests. Know what your maximum range is on a stationary target. Range Finders and Pivoting Harris bi-pods and are highly recommended with your flat-shooting large caliber rifle. There are approximately 50% Mule Deer and 50% Whitetails on Blackpipe Creek Ranch. You can expect 20”- 30” wide mule deer bucks and 16”- 24” wide white tail bucks on 3.5 year old deer with heavier horns on mature bucks. Depending on whether you are after Whitetail or Mule deer the guide hunter ratio will be either 1-1 or 1-2. Bull Elk is 1-1. antelope hunt. Our hunters went 9 for 10 with 7 making pope and young. Call us for your next South Dakota hunting adventure.
